Emerging Beauties: Prague, Budapest & Dresden

← All Travelogues

Three cities that emerged from behind the Iron Curtain to reclaim their place among Europe's most beautiful capitals — Budapest, Prague, and Dresden each offer something irreplaceable, and together they make one of the great European journeys. This travelogue captures all three with the richness they deserve.

Budapest stuns at every turn: Buda Castle commanding the west bank of the Danube, the Gothic Matthias Church and the Fisherman's Bastion offering panoramic views, the graceful Chain Bridge spanning the river, and the monumental Parliament building — one of the largest in the world — glowing golden on the east bank at night. Prague enchants differently — its astronomical clock striking the hours in the Old Town Square, the Cathedral of St. Vitus crowning Hradčany Castle, the medieval Charles Bridge lined with Baroque statuary.

Dresden tells a story of destruction and rebirth: firebombed in February 1945, the city's historic center was largely rebuilt after German reunification, and the restored Frauenkirche now stands again as a symbol of reconciliation. A dinner cruise on the Elbe provides a fitting and beautiful conclusion to this journey through three of Europe's most compelling cities.
